Official Statement of the Philippine International Convention Center on the Bomb Threat to the National Privacy Commission

/ May 12, 2023 06:56 PM

Earlier today, the National Privacy Commission (NPC), one of the government agencies holding office at the PICC, received a bomb threat on their official Facebook page. Upon verification, it was confirmed that the comment came from a legitimate social media account. The NPC immediately notified PICC’s Security Office, who in turn, coordinated with the proper authorities. Threats of this nature are taken seriously, and necessary actions against the source shall be made.

As a precautionary measure, all activities within the Center were suspended, and all personnel were requested to evacuate the premises. The PICC also coordinated with the EOD bomb squad, led by P/MAJ Neil Deveratorda of the Pasay Police, complete with K9 units, to conduct a thorough sweep of all buildings and grounds within the PICC Complex.

As the safety of personnel and property is of utmost priority, activities will only be allowed to resume once the bomb squad has provided a 100% clearance of safety. At approximately 4:59 pm today, the PICC was found clear of any explosive devices or substances.

The PICC reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all our clients, guests, and stakeholders.

The management of PICC expresses its sincere thanks and gratitude to the Pasay EOD/K9 Division for their prompt and invaluable assistance. Mabuhay po kayo!
