The Rotary Club of Metro Escolta and partner organizations have planted 1,000 trees at the La Mesa Watershed as part of the club’s celebration of International Youth Day 2023.

Over 50 volunteers participated in the tree-planting activity on August 12.
The partner organizations include the Million Trees Foundation, Inc., the Philippine International Convention Center, Inc., Bulacan Bulkwater, the Rotaract Club of Manila Metro, and Kilos Ko Youth.

“In Tagalog, the word ‘puno’ has two meanings — ‘tree’ and ‘full.’ In this event, we want to convey both meanings, that with every tree planted, our hope for the future of the youth is further filled,” Rotary Club of Metro Escolta Hope Creating President JP de las Nieves said.

Atty. Renato Padilla, general manager of the PICC, said the event provided an opportunity for PICC’s staff to reconnect with nature and contribute to a meaningful cause.

“This is a good initiative, and we laud partnerships like this and we will continue to donate more trees from the PICC garden,” Padilla said.
